Yay! I am finally returning to Club Med and my first trip to CM Phuket! I was in Thailand last year and our airport transfer accidentally took us to Club Med - what a tease! ;)

I just have three questions..

1) What is the beach like at CM Phuket? Are there waves? I am wondering if there are waves big enough to boogie board and play in (I sound like a child!!)

2) Does anyone know what night the trapeze show is on?

3) Finally - I am deciding between 3 and 5 nights. It isn't cheap but I'd hate to be frustrated to leave after 3. Then again, it's my first time going with my fiance (I used to go back when I was single and a bit more of a partier!).. so maybe 3 is enough?

Do they still do all the crazy signs and the fun GM shows and game nights? I've read that so much has changed. I hope there is still some of that old CM magic still around :)

Love Melanie xx

Given a choice between 3 nights & 5 nights at ANY Club Med, I'd go for 5 nights! With 3 nights, you will just be getting into the swing of things when you'll have to leave. Once you're already there, what's the big rush to go home....?

lol I think subconsciously that was exactly the reply I was hoping for.. otherwise why would I ask at club med planet! ;)

My concern is cost.. given that I'm being a little luxurious with our other hotel choices. You're right though.. and said exactly what I'd hoped to hear xx

Well, yes, 5 nights will cost more than 3 - but how often will you be there? If you can manage the extra expense then I'd say those 2 extra days at the Club should definitely be worth it. You've been to Club Med before, so you'll remember how the last couple of days are better than the first ones. By then you know people, you know your way around the Village; you will just be so much more relaxed that you really won't want to leave.
(Save money on something else after you get back home.)

Hope you have a wonderful time!

And yes, there has barely been one Club Med trip that I haven't extended my time on! ;)

Still curious about waves on the beach in front or nearby.. looking for waves big enough to boogie board easily and to learn to surf (smaller waves!).

Thanks for giving me the extra push that I needed.. I was just deciding upon splitting the time on a small, secluded quiet island.

Lucky you! We've recently come back from CM Bintan and they did Crazy Signs and all the fun games there so I'm pretty sure Phuket will do.
My fave GO has just started at Phuket - so we might try and take a trip there too - first we are going to try out CM Bali in October :)
Anyway the beach - Karong Beach info that I could find "during the Northeast monsoon season (November to April) the water around Karong Beach becomes very clear with very few waves. There can be a heavy swell during the Southwest monsoon season (May to October) but you will also find the beach much less crowded and the waves aren’t that big anyway."
Stay for 5 nights - after flights and transfers you will be glad for the extra nights. There are still some good specials on at the moment for Phuket so just make sure you don't book during a School holidays blackout period to maximise your savings.
Have fun!
