The Way Back Machine has been set to January 1992. I have posted some photos in the Phuket Pics section.

Some of you will see things that don't exist anymore, such as, hostesses, GM Olympic games, GM Big Spender show.

There are rare occasions when you sit back and say to yourself, It can't get any better than this. This was one of those vacations. There was the wonderful Thai culture, tremendous cuisine, great GO's, great excursions, and, oh, yes, getting to be friends with three fashion models from Paris.

One of the models some of you may recognize. Ann Marie Crouch played Princess Shayla in the TV show Power Rangers Wild Force. She also has been in several movies. Even more importantly, she is one of the sweetest and nicest people whom I have ever known.

You can find many more photos at http://www.jdlphotos.smugmug.com/

The Way Back machine will next go to Moorea and old Bora Bora 1991.

Nice photos, John.

Do you remember who the CDV was? Looks like the famous Patrick Calvet to me who's the chef of all the CDVs now.
Also, I remember his wife being tall and blond and in 1994 (when in Sandpiper) I remember they were having a small child.

I don't remember Kiki. He ran a very elegant club. He was classy without being pretentious. I believe that his wife was Dutch. She was also a most charming person, and a real partner to the CDV. She was always willing to help out a GM. I remember asking her if there was anyone at the club who would be interested in some recent magazine that I brought. She gave me a look of mock surprise and said, Well, what about me, John. We both laughed and I made sure to give her the magazines.

By the way, when I went back to the Smugmug site to do some maintenance I saw that there had been 909 hits on these photos in 3 hours. That very much surprised me. I didn't expect that much interest in the old club photos.

I most likely would have reacted the same way!

Makes me remind everybody not to leave newspapers or magazines on the plane, but bring them to the GOs.
They are usually highly appreciated, especially in isolated villages.

Last year when I was in Cherating, I gave a USA Today newspaper to one of the two American GO's who worked there. He was like a kid receiving a present at Christmas. He hadn't seen one in months, and he just devoured it. Afterwards, he would frequently mention some article that he read in the paper. I think that he read every article in the newspaper. You are absolutely right, Kiki.
