Hi everyone,

My partner and I are going to Thailand for 16 nights from October 22nd and we have 6 nights which haven't been booked yet.

So - naturally I thought perhaps a little club med fix would be in order!

The prices on the website seem incredibly high though so I'm wondering if it's ever cheaper to simply call them up at the last minute, once in Thailand?

I've been to many clubs in the past and this just seemed quite expensive.. I'm wondering what the normal rates are at this time of year, per night... for two people? I see they have the 2 for 1 deal, but that's only for over 10 nights and I think we'd only be doing 3 nights..

It'd be great to get back.. recently I've been to Bali and Cancun but never to Phuket..

Love Melanie

Melanie,

Usually, when showing up in a village or when you want to extend a stay, you do get a discount. However, mostly just when the village isn't solid booked. Also, it helps, when you are a regular guest, even more so, if you know the CDV or any other important GO in the village.

Now, in November, I suppose peak season starts and your chances are somewhat slimer for a reduced price. But nonetheless, with some chances you can get some 10 to 20 %.

If you want to check what they'd charge for a night, you very simply go to the Club's web page and similate a stay for your dates. That will give you an idea. Once in Thailand, call and enquire what they would charge. Then decide.

I am looking into the prices for next spring and find them surprisingly moderate. But then, I do compare with the two villages in Mauritius.

Good luck!

PS:
Just checked my Trident. From end of October till mid-December, the weeks are some 890€/week/pp (double occupancy, standard room) which translates into some 130€/day/pp. Not outrageously expensive, IMO.
It's as from mid-December, when it starts to hurt.

Hi

I emailed CM phuket direct regarding rates in Oct 07.
CM gave me a rate which was more expensive than if i booked from my local office.

A possible way to get better discounted rates is to check with a local travel agent in phuket once you are there. Apparently, they are prepared to slash the room rates if you book thru them. Of course, provided the Village isnt already fully booked. I suspect the travel agent is prepared to forego their full commission from club med and pass you the savings.

You take the risk though if the Village is fully booked..
