Hi There,
I was there in May and back in October. I really enjoyed the village, it's beautiful and Laurent is a real CDV like a clubmed CDV should be, all over the place without being inappropriate.
Only problem in Cherating is yes the food (no pork allowed), and the village is pretty much far from everything. So if you plan to move outside it's complicated. The duration time in Cherating is max 1 week. After that you start to turn around, and feel bored with the food.
I was until 2 days ago in Phuket CM for 2 weeks, and although the village is less beautiful I had more fun than in Cherating and was not bored at all for the long 2 weeks stay, you are in the middle of Kata Bay and many activities outside the CM are possible. I plan to go back there next May. The only problem is the CDV and his Animator (Greg and Eric) they are inexistent, not funny, not talented, I would even say the Animator has as much Charisma as a computer chair, his voice is as flat as his jokes. And worst of all, the other GO's that are all very nice they all dislike this Animator, but since he is the best friend of the CDV all complains are not listen to....so the GO are just leaving....and there is a bad atmosphere in the team that you can feel.
I had a good time though cause many GO like to spend some time out of the village with GM, so we had a lot of wild nights in Patong and so on, was great. The buffet looks less impressive than Cherating but it tastes 10 times better. The chef is a real artist....
