In about a week and a half I will be heading out to Cherating from Chicago. On the return I wll be staying in Kuala Lumpur for about 2.5 days. I will be staying in the Central City near the Towers. Considering the fact that I am an avid photographer, what recommendations do you have for me during my stay as places to visit or tours to take. I don't care if they are touristy or not. Thanks for your help.

Sorry John, not answering your question (as I have never stayed in KL) but was just hoping you take plenty of pics at Cherating and then post them so that we can all see them.

Cheers

But personally, i think merdeka square, jalan alor, go up the Petronas Tower for a bird eye's view are good bets for photos.

Have Fun !

Sammy,
I will have no excuses for poor pictures. I just purchased a 70-200 mm Canon "L" lens. Those of you who are into photography will know what "L" means. When you go to the sporting events and see all of those white lenses on the sideline, those are all "L" lenses (attached to Canon cameras of course), although a whole lot more expensive than the one I bought.

John

PS: There is no such thing as a cheap L lens.

Hey John,

If you were to go up the twin towers, i suggest you go there early on a weekday say bout 9am. You have to queue up and opbtain passes to get on the bridge. And as they only allow about a 100 people per day to go up it would be worth it to arrive early.

The other places would be the KL bird park which reputedly has the largest collection of birds in South East Asia. Just next to it is also the Orchid gardens and the National memorial thingy!

Jalan Alor is basically an entire street in the heart of KL dedicated to chinese hawker food. The other street which most people like to go to is CHinatown (Petaling Street). I suggest you go there at night - there's more to see.

Another popular photo is the Twin towers from ground level or a distance at night.

Hope that helps and might be seeing you in Cherating!!

All in good time

Hey jOhn
You're so lucky you're going to Cherating!! I miss it so much. :) The long flight is worth it. Although I heard they put up a fence in the beautiful pool--such a shame! But you'll have a great time anyway I'm sure. I hope you get to meet my friends there: Maria(korean, boutique), Joan(indonesian, nurse), Soraya(french canadian), Joanna(malaysian teens club), Jenn(Malaysian bar), Han(malaysian, business center). I am not sure who else is there still...I think alot of the people that were there last summer have moved on to either PHUKET or BALI. But look out for Maria, Joan, Jenn, Soraya, JOanna and Han. They're great! Have fun! Tell them hi for me.
Thanks,
Sarah Harnsberger
