Hey guys i was just wondering if you could tell me how much has changed since the renovation of the village. I used to go every year when i was a little kid. but i stopped about 5 - 6 years ago. Just hoping you guys could tell me the differences and whether its better or worse. Because I was planning on going there in April sometime. It is worth going? thanks in advance!

oh things have changed heaps. restaurant's now got a/c, rock wall and trapeze have moved to where the tennis and basketball courts are and its really hot now, also added the bungee and rollerblading area. the place where the old rockwall used to be is now a peacock pen, they did some things to the pool, the bar is heaps better looking, basically it's really upmarket now compared to back then. beach nightclub is gone for good - i still can't get over that. there's a beach bar at the sailing shack now.

they haven't done much to the rooms so those are still the same.

OH MY GOD! REALLY!? They got rid of the beach night club??? that sucks!! its just a bar now? man it was the coolest thing! :( do they have a night club though? or none at all? and also are the monkeys still bothersome?and did they change the basketball and tennis courts? or are they still the same?

yeah the beach club is gone :(
it's now just a place for late lunch and fancy dinner. they closed up half the club to make it like a luxury dining space and the rest is open air but no bar there at all.
the "night club" is now where the photo board used to be. thats where they do all the crazy signs and this season's team do alot of them at night. it's more of a dance floor really, open concept type of thing.
there aren't as monkeys now, i don't know if that's a good or a bad thing i quite like the monkeys actually.
oh sorry totally forgot. they moved the bball court to the tennis area so now the old bball court is just grass.

things have changed so much my memories are slowly fading which is really sad because i really liked the old cherating.

Yeah the beach nightclub shutting is the one bad thing about the renovations. Personally I love the reno's, think the club is much better now. It is different, but not too different.

There is no real nightclub as such. They just clear a space near the bar at the end of the night and that is where people dance. It is pretty naff and does not have anywhere near the vibe of the old club.

If anyone's going soon, can you tell GO Jeremy to e-mail Wendy? If he's still there, he's the American Fitness GO (from Minnesota). Thanks!

I like the new Cherating after the reno.

The spa (previously next to the botigue) has shifted to its own private spot nearer the south end of the beach.

They have a circus school, roller blading , a teens club (in the basement) with Xboxes or playstation or sumthin.

Yea, a pity about the beach disco tho - i love the walk back using the jungle path from the disco. And, oh, the "disco" or nightclub closes at 1am. In the past, i recalled it closed only when the last GM left which was usually 3-4 am . But that was a long time agooooo ..... ; )

I can tell West5567 that Jeremy the American fitness GO was still there, alive and kicking and making everyone work very hard (but with a smile!) in the pool when I visited Cherating in Jan-Feb 2007.
