Hi people, I've read some of the latest forums about this village, and I might be planning to go to Cherating next month, but just to check:

1 - How is the current weather condition? Does it rain very often?

2 - How is the current CDV and G.O.s? Someone told me that village quality and fun in general has lowered.

3 - Who are the current G.O.s?

Thanks for the help, guys!

The current CDV is still Karim, GO turnover is still a little fuzzy to me right now...but i've always had fun with the team and Karim's one of the better CDVs around.

You live in Malaysia so you'd know that the monsoon is kicking in now, hopefully the village doesn't get flooded like it usually did before the renos.

Well, the weather in the capital raining every single day, my concern is whether it is raining everyday, the entire day? Cause I have not been to Cherating for more than a year, and I am hoping the weather is not as bad as KL.

Dear EOSN

East coast is monsoon season la - so sure have rain.
I think it is easier for you to get the local weather forecast from the malaysian newspaper or TV.

If not, call your local CM office for the CM Cherating reception. I am sure they'd be more than happy to keep you updated.

Wishing you sunny skies !

The weather is unpredictable on the east coast during this monsoon. Many ppl say that it is calmer than last year but then the monsoon might be late coming. I would say it always is a gamble when u go on holiday.
so good luck

Club Med Cherating is beautiful. It's worth going even if you're there in winter. I have heard that flooding gets bad in end of january, but the whole village is raised off the ground for that reason. :) The resort is really pretty and the GOs are super friendly like always. The pool is gorgeous and you can see it from the restaurant. The food is delicious---so many things to choose from(very international cuisine). The rooms are a tad small and not very luxurious for Club Med but you're hardly ever there so what does it matter:). If you're looking for nice rooms I would suggest Phuket. LOL. The beach in Cherating isnt so good either--the undertow is strong. And theres not much to do outside the village. But theres always something inside...its CLUB MED!! :) I met some of my best friends at Cherating. If you want to know anything just message me

for the GOs, there's also:
Bar: Sarah (Canada) , Emily (Malaysia) and Nikki (South Korea)
Restaurant: Rie (Japan)
Land Sport: Popo (Japan), Marcello (indonesia)
Lifeguard: Robs (S Africa), Agustinus and Sandro (Indonesia)
Teen Passworld: Clément (france) and Joanna (Malaysia)
Planning: Estelle (France)
Boutique: Laeticia (France), Maika (Japan) and Bobby (USA)
Excursion: Anne (France)
Circus: Tak should leave to Lindeman in January and be replaced by another japanese GO from Bintan or Kabira

Concerning the weather, we've been there for 2 weeks (9-23 december) and the 1st week was really hot and sunny but later we've had rain for 4 days non stop, day and night. As all the infrastructures are outside it was quite difficult for the GOs to entertain all the GMs but they did it.
Karim is a real leader and a nice guy.

Hope it's helped

Look at my report from Feb 9th; there are some names there.

This year is the first that Cherating didn't close for the winter so some GO's have been there for some time now and may change soon.

The following Mauritian GOs (ex La Pointe aux Canonniers) will be in Cherating. Some of them may have arrived already, since La Pointe closed down for renovation at the end of March.

Nico, watersports (sailing)
Oliver, golf
Angèle, excursions
Dany, reception
Vissen, bar

All of them have been at La Pointe aux Canonniers for quite some time and are experienced GOs.
Oliver is a pretty good overall GO. He has usually main parts in the shows, does the different coffee and apero games and presentations of whatsoever. He's the one you want to dance with, when they play Rock'n'Roll.
Nico, now at the sailing, used to work also with the animation and land sports team. I knew him, when he was a shy guy...

Sorry, can't help you with the circus team.

Sav,

There's another Nico from Mauritius around. He's at the maintenance service or then, at the landsports.
From what I understand, he's in Phuket though. I think, he's in Ric's photo album.
That's him:

Hi Kiki de M,

Just come back Hong Kong from Japan (not Club Med).
I plan to go to Club Med in the next season (May 2007 to Dec 2007).
It seems that I will meet some Mauritius GOs if I go to Cherating.
When I was in La Pointe aux Cannoniers, Eric told me that he was going to Cherating in Dec 2006 and Judy will go to Cherating in May 2007.

It's difficult to make a decision. Cherating ? Bintan ?
If I go alone, I will choose a village with very good GO team.
If I go with friends, I think my friends will choose Phuket because there will be more choices for my friends. In Phuket, my friends can stay in Club Med village if they like Club Med style holiday. If they don't, they can go out for shopping, short tours,...

Hi Ric,

Regarding Eric and Judy, you know things often change and things are only settled, once the GOs are actually IN their village. They both were at La Pointe until April 1 and will be going to Phuket and I am very happy about it. Unfortunately, all of us have totally forgotten to ask about an e-mail address.... Too bad. But then, one could always send a fax to the village.
If you should go to Phuket, please let me know and I'll PM you.

Sorry, can't advise you regarding Bintan. We Europeans do generally prefer Phuket (Bali or Cherating), although Bintan seems to have an exceptionally beautiful beach. But I fear there is less CM atmosphere, since people often don't stay a full week and the clientèle is less mixed (few Europeans).
And as you say, in Phuket it's easy to go out for shopping, sightseeing, etc. Bali, too, by the way.

Anyway, not yet decided what to do later this year, since La Pointe is closed. Albion is too expensive and probably less fun. But then, we have had summer weather here since beginning April. So, basically no need to leave the country.

Hi Kiki de M,

I will go to Club Med in the next season, but I do not fixed any village yet.
All depend on my friends and also depend on the GO team.

If I go to Phuket, I will inform you at once.
