Dear All,

As you might know, the Cherating Beach village will open this winter season. We are planning to go there by December from the 8th to 24th. Can anyone tell us what the weather like in December in the east coast of Malaysia? This vacation should be our honeymoon so the weather is important for us ...Thank you for your help !

Expect some rain. I was there in early Feb this year just two weeks after the village re-opened after Monsoon season. For at least half of the time it bucketed down with rain. And I mean really, really heavy tropical rain. If I was you I would look into one of the other villages like Kani or Phuket.

I went to Kani in December a few years ago and the weather was delightful.

its the monsoon season and the east coast towns are prone to floods. i'd go to another village if i were you. no point spending your time waiting for the rain to stop because it normally goes on for awhile during the monsoon. honestly i have no idea why they decided to open during the monsoon. but we'll see how it goes this year.

sammy, i was at cherating the week it opened this year and it wasn't as rainy as expected. you must have gotten a bad week!

Yes, its the monsoon season from late Nov to early Feb.
Expect floods and thunderstorms.

then again, raining weather can be quite romantic for newly weds with candles, soft music, the beat of the pelting rain on the roof, a bottle of champagne, a soft bed and both of you in each other's arms.

If you want sun, i suggest Phuket or Maldives

Thanks for all your informations and comments.
But, we will maintain our booking because we think that CM wouldn't send any clients to this village if they are not sure to have satisfied guests at the end of the stay...
I've read on the french site www.macase.net a comment from a former GO saying that for 2 or 3 years the winter season for this part of Malaysia is quite calm and not too much rainy...
However, as we say in France "Qui vivra, verra" and if the weather is too bad, it would be a good occasion to ask my hus for an other honeymoon, in another place ...

If it's a way to get another honeymoon in another place, go but otherwise, I wouldn't maintain my booking just on the idea the CM wouldn't send his guests in a rainy village, don't dream about this.
I hope you'll have a great honeymoon and a lot of hapiness.
