Hi. I will be leaving for CM Cherating next Tues (11th April 2006) with a good friend. I have few questions and I hope you guys can help me out.

Is it a peak season during my trip there? We have book for superior rooms, is it located near the common areas? My friend thought of having a room that provide us good view. Are we allowed to choose our rooms?

What are the essential items that we need to bring? Do we need to bring an insect repellent?

By reading the comments in this forum no doubt we will have loads of fun there. How's the food serve in Cherating?

OOOOOOH! You lucky girl! Make sure you take PLENTY of pictures for all of us! I'll try to help and answer some of your questions.

Cherating is a fairly crowded all the time, with the diverse clientele Cherating accomodates. Superior rooms don't guarantee you a spot near the main area, nor can you choose your room. The last time I was there I requested for a nearer room, and I couldn't get it. But I guess since you're there on a Tuesday, you have a good shot at getting a room nearer the main area.

There are alot of mosquitoes. You might want to bring some repellent in that respect. Remember to pack in your toothbrush and tooth paste because buying them from the boutique will cost you an arm and a leg. You need not bring towels. Oh. Most importantly, bring a smile!

There are three restaurants in Cherating. The main one which is where almost everyone eats, is a buffet and you get to mingle around with everyone- GMs and GOs alike. The other two are located at the other beach, a speciality restaurant and a fine dining restaurant, both in which you need to make reservations beforehand and also catch the tram to get there.

I hope this has been helpful. Let us know how your trip went when you come back! I'm sure you'll get hook on Cherating as quickly as I did. :D

Haha. I take that as a compliment. :) I've only been there twice, but I guess one gains alot just from one visit. It did help that I heard alot from the G.Os I have personal friendship ties with.

You should really try to squeeze a visit to Cherating, despite the transport (I KNOW how pain in the you-know-where transport can get, believe me.). It really is worth it, especially so as it's considered to be not only the best Club Med in Asia, but also one of the best Asian resort. And it certainly deserves the title.

One advise...go with a bunch of frens if you could. You will find it more enjoyable. You guys will have a blast of time!!!

I have been to Cherating 4 times myself. It is one of the most amazing places I have ever been to! OMg, what a beautiful place. My closest GO friends work there, so I will be going back yet again in August. It is a divere club Med, with europeans, asians, and a few americans and australians there. The Club Med is the longest building built on stilts in the world, and everything about the village is gorgeous. The food is wonderful, Kuantan is relaly fun, and the beach is great. The swimming pool is really luxurious too. Enjoy! Watch out for the wild monkeys! hehe not kidding:)

If that is true, I don't know whether it's good news or bad news.... coz the whole point of closing during december/january was because it's rainy season in this part of Malaysia....

I guess it really depends.I was there i think 4 to 5 years back or more, can't really remember, to celebrate Chritsmas and New Year, the weather wasnt THAT bad.I only remembered it raining on New Year itself.Other than that,it was sunny everyday during my ten days stay.Maybe I was just really lucky.;p
