Hello!!
I'm still planning and deciding between Cherating or Phuket next week. (around Feb 8 to 13)
The weather is my main concern. I don't want to go there if it is too cold to swim /dive etc... Does anyone know whether it tend to be hotter in Cherating or Phuket?!

Another questions (sorry!), just in general, would you rather go to Cherating or Phuket? I guess what really matters to me the most is the accomodation (clean-ness!), and activies, and the serene view of the ocean/sea..

Would greatly appreciate it if you could help me out!!

Thankkksss!!

February is the end of the rainy season in Cherating. In Phuket the rainy season won't start for about 2 months, so you will probably find better weather at Phuket. I was in Phuket in late January and in April. In January we had perfect weather, but in April we had rains about every day for short periods. The ocean was warm both times.

I was there before the tsunami, but the accomodations in Phuket (along with the food) were excellent. The excursions were really very interesting. Also, I have never had a massage quite like the ones at the club. On the beach, right in front of the club, they cost about $5-$6 American for an hour. They are a little more expensive at the club. The beach is very large and the sunsets are quite beautiful and relaxing. The view from the terrace on the hillside restaurant of the club is great.

I keep talking about Phuket, because I haven't been to Cherating, although it is next on my list. Phuket is very international, with many nationalities. However, English is very widely spoken. This is one of my all time favorite clubs.

For Cherating , expect choppy seas in Feb/March since it is still monsoon reason. So expect some rain as well . No sea sports during this period. Beach is private with an occasional vendor. There's no diving or snorkelling.
Temperature should be abt 28-30degrees

Phuket beach is a public beach with plenty of vendors so you may not get your peace and solitude unlike Cherating. Weather is hot and dry
Temperature is 30-32degrees (though the latest weather forecast is thunderstorms !)

Based on your concerns - and unless you;re big on sea activitiess, I think Cherating will fit your bill.

Also, I believe you have to connect thru Kuala Lumpur if u're flying.
Phuket has more direct international connections.
