Hi everybody,
Well I just got back from Club Med Cherating. I spent 10 days there after spending 10 days in Club Med Phuket. Cherating is great this season! There are so many wonderful GOs, and even though the village was entirely full while I was there, it was still great. The weather was perfect, except for about 2 days of rain. The food in the restaurant is delicious, and meal time is the perfect time to get to know other people. What was hard for me was deciding what GOs to eat with everyday since there are so many wonderful ones, and you're only allowed 3 per table. I met GOs such as: Maria(Korean, boutique), Maki(Japanese, bar), Tika(Australian, boutique), Jenn(Malaysian, bar), Nur(Indonesian, bar),Gloria(teens club), and many others I know from years before(Joan, nurse)(Rati, nurse), (Rika, spa), (Alin, reception). Cherating was amazing!! I miss it so much already. It's definitely worth going to if you haven't been there, and even if you've been there multiple times. There are so many activities, the shows are great(especially brazil show!), and the atmosphere is wonderful too.
I'll post pictures when I can. I need to download them first. Cherating rocks! I miss it so much.

Dear Gingerbr75,

Welcome back. I'm so glad that you have great time in Cherating (as I do in May 2005). You are right, the GOs are very nice. Maria, Maki and Tika , .... are beautiful as well.

I have the same problem as you during meal time. I remembered my first time in Club Med was 2003 Bali. Sometimes, I had meal in one table, then I changed to another table and met different GMs and GOs.

Look forward to your photos.

There are 2 beaches, one near the rooms (facing the open sea) and the other in a more sheltered lagoon ("Pantai"). Watersports are conducted at Pantai. Beaches are nice - both are private beaches.

And as to monsoon, it's generally Nov - Jan which is the height of the north-east monsoon. During the monsoon season, Cherating is generally closed.

Gingerbr,
Apparently, Soufiane, a Moroccan guy, is the sports chef. I've known him for years, when he started as a GO golf in Agadir... young, innocent, timid and at least 25 pounds heavier then! Haha!
And I met him again last winter in Djerba la Douce.
How is he doing? Would love to go to Cherating one day, but first, I'll go back to Mauritius in October...

Dear Gingerbr,

Soufiane is the sports chef. That means Daniel has left Cherating. Am I right ?

Ric,
I have no idea whether you're right. I don't know Daniel.

But when I was in Mauritius in April, the CDS Youssef (Moroccan as well) told me that Soufiane was back in Cherating coming from Djerba La Douce.

Kiki: Yes Soufiane is now in Cherating. He's doing well.
Ric: I met a Daniel in Phuket....what does the Daniel you know look like? I wonder if it's the same Daniel......
Phuket was great as well. Just a lot quieter than Cherating(only 150 Gms).

Dear Gingerbr75,

In May 2005, I met Daniel in Cherating. He was CDS.
Photo number 124 in the Cherating web page of my webiste is Daniel.

May be there are too many Daniel. Last time in Cherating, Daniel from Brazil was CDS and Dainel from Malaysia was a restaurant GO.

Thanks Kiki de M and Gingerbr75

Soufiane is the Leisure Manager...a new Club Med role who is in charge of all the sports and leisure activities. This is who the chief of sports reports directly to, which in the case of Cherating is Daniel(Brazilian).

Dear all,
Thanks for confirming that Soufiane is in Cherating now. He was longing so much for going back to SE Asia. Happy for him is the least I can say. No idea, if ever I make it there, first it will be Phuket, I believe, especially since Kirsti, a close GO friend of mine, is the leisure manager right now.
But then, I am returning to Mauritius soon...
