After an eight month, $20 million renovation, Club Med Ixtapa Pacific will unveil its transformation, December 22, 2007. The investment heralds the complete upgrade of the resort’s shared spaces in addition to renovated, enlarged rooms and the creation of family suites. Nestled on Mexico’s Pacific coast, Ixtapa Pacific was the first resort built in the area in 1982 and spans 34 acres of pristine beachfront property. The resort will open with 96 rooms on December 22, 2007 as a premiere vacation spot for young families. A total of 298 rooms will be available in March. Ixtapa Pacific will be the only Club Med in Mexico to offer programs for infants and toddlers.

The design

With its arches, pergolas, shady palms and potted orange trees, Ixtapa Pacific retains the charm of a family hacienda, where children play freely and adults bask in their newfound relaxation. The concept of fusing bold Mexican colors with Spanish elegance and modern convenience served as the starting point for developing the new Ixtapa Pacific.

The major restructuring throughout the resort adds comfort to rooms of all categories and invigorates the public spaces. Form and function claim equal importance to create inviting balconies, romantic arches and whimsical children’s rooms. The Pacific Ocean also influenced the design—most of the common spaces and many of the guest rooms open out to spectacular beach views.

In March 2008, Club Med Ixtapa Pacific will offer a total of 298 rooms, including 60 family suites, all equipped with flat screen TVs, Internet access and high quality amenities.

Where children reign

Fun activities and attentive staff reassure parents and entertain children from four months to 17 years old. Educational programs for children of all ages offer engaging activities for them to learn about local endangered sea turtles and baby crocodiles—and even see them during certain seasons.

Ixtapa Pacific’s Baby Club Med caters to infants from four to 23 months with a staff to child ratio of one to four. Children at the Baby Club Med are divided into two groups, with special programs designed to suit a range of physical abilities. Club Med’s youngest guests will learn games, watch puppet shows and be spoiled in their own private dining room that hosts a personal chef who prepares fresh baby food daily from all natural ingredients. Parents of infants may access a 24 hour convenience room equipped with sterilizers, blenders and bottle warmers. Club Med Baby Welcome offers parents a variety of amenities for toddlers like strollers, toys, cribs, changing tables, baby baths, changing tables and high chairs. In room baby-sitting service is also available for a minimal fee.

Children two to three years old will gain new friends and experiences at the Ixtapa Pacific’s Petit Club Med, which has a one to six staff to child ratio. Games, songs, art programs, nap time and sports create a fun and educational schedule at the Petit Club Med.

Ixtapa Pacific will also offer a Mini-Club Med, catering to children ages four to 10 and Junior Club Med exclusively for teens and ‘tweens'.

Dining

Three (and a half) restaurants provide delightful cuisine in picturesque settings.

El Encanto will enchant guests whether they dine seaside on the covered terrace or inside one of five themed, air-conditioned dining rooms. El Encanto will charm our youngest guests in their own special area – Baby Zone where baby food and dining amenities are available. This buffet style restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Only once in a blue moon does one experience such spectacular cuisine in a setting as stunning as Luna Azul, Ixtapa Pacific’s new specialty restaurant. The restaurant opens for dinner, showcasing fusion cuisine served à la carte in an intimate environment.

Despite its regal beauty, the Pacific Ocean will have some stiff competition at Miramar, the resort’s open air, seaside Brazilian grill house. Guests dine on succulent grilled meats and seafood throughout the day and evening.

At Sirena, the new restaurant for children, Club Med has not forgotten your better half (pints). Incorporated in the Mini Club Med® enclosure, Sirena serves all meals exclusively to children aged four -10 with entertainment at every course.

Invigorate

While Club Med programs engage the children, parents will enjoy world-class accommodations, treatments at the spa, gourmet buffets, water sports, sunset cruises, soaring high on the flying trapeze and live nightly entertainment.

The nearby cities of Ixtapa and Zijuantenejo mix developed tourism and the quaint charms of ancient fishing villages. Ixtapa Pacific offers many excursions for guests who want to explore the rich nature of the surrounding areas including coastline cruises to the local villages, snorkeling and land adventures.

Ixtapa Pacific’s opening in December will introduce a host of new and time-honored activities to Club Med guests including:

  • A climbing wall with group lessons at all levels
  • Club Med Fitness and aquafitness: group lessons at all levels held in air-conditioned room or in the open air
  • Weight room
  • Flying trapeze, circus school for the children
  • Tennis (eight hard courts of which three are floodlit) with group lessons at all levels
  • Beginners' archery
  • Roller-blading
  • Basketball, volleyball, mini football, beach volleyball, water-polo
  • Catamaran sailing with group beginners' classes
  • Kayaking

Architecture and décor with a sense of place. The resort of Ixtapa Pacific is set against the Sierra Madre Mountains north of Acapulco, stretching out along the edge of a vast sandy beach facing the Pacific Ocean in a lush green tropical park, brightly splashed with bougainvillea pink.

Club Med Ixtapa's original architecture blended subtly with the exceptional surroundings. The concept of fusing two worlds served as the starting point for developing the new Ixtapa Pacific. We combined bold Mexican colors with Spanish elegance and modern convenience.

The major restructuring throughout the resort adds comfort to rooms of all categories and invigorates the shared spaces. In our redesign, we gave form and function equal importance to create inviting balconies, romantic arches and whimsical children's rooms. The Pacific Ocean also influenced the design-most of the shared spaces and many of the guest rooms open out to spectacular beach views.
