Antique Thèbes (2 days)

Baptised the city of one hundred doors by Homer, this open-air museum has no equivalent in the world. Sacred city of the Amon-Re God with the fabulous past, these two days in ancient Thebes will transport you back in time where he came every year in his small gold boat for a solemn sail. A guided visit with sound and light will help you discover the splendour of this temple called Karnak today where the pharaohs succeeded one another over 5 centuries. The sphinx bordered and paved route will lead you to the Luxor temple. Impression of peace and eternity in front of the famous pylon and its two Pharaohs seated with dignity. On the opposite bank of the river lies the secret valley, the royal Necropolis of Thebes. The Valley of the Kings, Queens and the Temple of Hatchepsout are invitations to meditate, not on death, but rather on the refusal of death, on a hymn to life. Lying on the eastern bank of the Nile, facing the Necropolis, Luxor Club Med will be happy to greet you for meals and the night.

Bedouin desert (1/2 day)

The desert becomes magnetic. Monotonous like the sea and as changeable, it is never more magical than in the afternoon.

Ensconced in the 4-wheeled drive vehicle, between the Nile and the Red Sea the marvellous panorama of the eastern desert unfolds before your eyes. It is still inhabited by a hospitable population of Bedouins who have remained faithful to their ancestral art of living. Take a short ride on a camel, take the time to get an idea of this fascinating landscape, enjoy a traditional tea and observe this environment intensely. After the sunset, watch an oriental show while tucking into a grill dinner.

Cairo (1 day)

A world of diversity where past and present mingle unashamedly, the mother of the world as some have called her offers ancient monuments, bustling city life and the majestic Pyramids. The gold treasure of Tutankhamen, mummies, innumerable statues and sarcophagi fill the Museum of Cairo which displays all the riches of ancient Egypt and much else, too.

So many accumulated marvels will enchant you. The fascinating and majestic Pyramids of Giza dominate the city and astonish all who visit them. You can admire the last of the 7 Wonders of the World after lunch, as well as the stone Sphinx that seems to have been built to guard the temple of the sun. Then the Mohammed Ali mosque will open the doors of its fascinating sanctuary for you, with each narrow stain-glassed window throwing multicoloured light on the stones. The prince buried here wanted it to resemble the mosques of his homeland, so you will feel as if transported to Istanbul. Round off your day by exploring the citadel of Salah al-Din, a fortified city called the Mountain Castle.

Mahmeya Island (1 day)

Along the Egyptian coastline, image the Red Sea lost to sight from the top of the hill of the Giftun island, classified as a natural reserve.

The island of Giftun appears after an hour and a half motor boat ride. The shaded colours and sparkling water that surround the island are breathtaking. Snorkelling on the coral reefs, sunbathing on white sands, buffet lunch in the island restaurant before lounging under the shades of the parasols, all will make this day unforgettable.

Quad evasion

Just 10 minutes away from the frenzy of the beaches, lies infinite emptiness. This is the Arab desert, the country of the Bedouins.

Desert discovery, sunset or barbecue, three programmes to choose from, guiding you, at the controls of a quad bike, into the oriental desert. A backdrop of stone and rocky plateau, hewn from the pink mountain range, the fascinating aridness of the mountainous plains gives way to an enclosed gorge to provide you with fresh surprises, along with views such as you have never seen before.

Valleys and temples of Louxor (1 day)

In front of us beneath our feet, an avenue stretches away, lined with giant rams, bigger than buffalos.

Its gates open onto the sacred lake destined for ritual sailing. Opposite the royal colossi of the Ethiopian court and the forest of hypostyle room columns, the Temple of Karnak reveals its full splendour. Lunch at the Luxor Club Med is followed by the discovery of the royal necropolis. We cross the Nile and reach the Valley of Kings, the home to about sixty royal tombs, the Temple of Queen Hatshepsout wedged perfectly into the cliffs, and the Colossi of Memnon which portray Pharaoh Aménophis III.
